The 14th edition of the Epson International Pano Awards has unveiled its champions, with Spanish photographer José D. Riquelme earning the top spot. This competition, dedicated to celebrating the finest panoramic photography from around the world, is recognized as the foremost global platform for panoramic imagery.

Hailing from Murcia, Spain, Riquelme is a passionate landscape and night photographer. Remarkably, despite his extensive background in graphic design and printing, he only delved into photography eight years ago. During his initial two years, he exclusively used his smartphone, ingeniously seeking captivating compositions in commonly overlooked and less photogenic settings.

Open Photographer of the Year: The Bridge, Iceland by Jose D Riquelme

“After a dozen visits to Iceland, exploring its majestic lands, during a rest stop, I decided to change my perspective and launch my drone. To my amazement, I captured this incredible image. From above, lines form a bridge extending from left to right, while on the ground, abstract shapes emerge from the flowing river water originating from the glacier,” Riquelme explains of his overall winning image, The Bridge.
