These are the 35 winning photographs from the Travel Photographer of the Year 2022 competition. The top prize was awarded to a snapshot of one of the world’s last two remaining Northern White rhinos, out of the 20,000 submissions.
Overall Winner: Travel Photographer Of The Year 2022: Matjaz Krivic, Slovenia
Matjaz Krivic from Slovenia won the Overall prize for 2022 with his series titled “Northern White Rhinos.” The judges commented that the portfolio beautifully and sensitively tells the sad story of Najin, a 33-year-old Northern White rhino, and her keeper Zachary Mutai in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Kenya. The images are intimate and tender. The judges also noted the fascinating visual story-telling of the erupting Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma, which focuses on the impact on the surrounding landscape, as seen through the abandoned horse in search of food.
