This summer, Joanna Piotrowska’s unseeing eyes, restless bodies, opens at the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania (ICA). Piotrowska’s work blurs the lines between performance and photography, using family archives, self-defense manuals, and psychotherapeutic methods to stage intimate, ambiguous scenes that evoke both familiarity and discomfort.
